Client:

Downtown Kalamazoo Restaurant Week is a bi-annual event, summer and winter, geared towards driving business to the very best of over 20+ local restaurants in Downtown Kalamazoo, Michigan. Kalamazoo restaurants offer a line-up of specially curated and unique menu pairings, all at a fixed price, and their talented mixologists strive for bragging rights with unforgettable, unique cocktails for the Cocktail Competition. The event is organized by the Southwest Michigan First Chamber.

Challenge:

The Southwest Michigan First Chamber wanted more than to just deploy social media management; they wanted a marketing agency with the strategy and expertise to streamline their event processes and grow the event’s reach through targeted advertising. 

Approach:

Slick Raven secured the position showcasing our deeply researched and practiced ad strategy that encourages people to dine out (and dine locally) while also engaging with quality event content online. We built a personalized workflow and event management system for Kalamazoo Restaurant Week that alleviated duties from management, enticed sponsorships by developing attractive marketing packages with built in deliverables (which added sponsorship value), and implemented professional photography and videography services that quickly became a hot commodity among top-tier participating restaurants.

OUR Process

Slick Raven took over at the beginning of 2023 and brought incredible value to both Winter (March 2023) and Summer (July 2023) Downtown Kalamazoo Restaurant Week. The data featured in this case study is a reflection of the most recent, Summer, large scale event; although, the data from the Winter event is comparable!

With over a decade in large scale event management and advertising, Slick Raven contributed to enticing valuable event sponsorships, implemented ad strategy to reach ideal, local audiences, and worked independently to provide professional videography and photography services to create engaging and beautiful content for socials and advertising without increasing the workload on event management. Our efforts brought 20x the reach compared to the previous summer, reaching over 314K people in Kalamazoo and the surrounding areas during the event’s advertising campaign (leading to an increase in tourism) with more than 49K views of the Summer Restaurant Week video ad alone. We also added an additional 380 new followers on social during the Summer event. We look forward to this winter’s event, where we will further streamline our processes and continue to grow Downtown Kalamazoo Restaurant Week in 2024!
