A Slick Raven anthropomorphic raven dressed like a woman is raising its wing with one feather pointed up as if to say, "I've got an idea!" There is a glowing lightbulb suspended above her head as well. The raven is standing next to a computer desktop screen featuring the Slick Raven Marketing LinkedIn Business page. Above the computer is the Slick Raven Marketing logo and text that reads, "5 Reasons You Need A LinkedIn Business Page".

If your business is not on LinkedIn yet, here are 5 reasons you NEED a LinkedIn Business Page and 5 tips for getting started!

We all know that video is king, which is why so many businesses are feeling the pressure to hop on TikTok. Here’s the secret TikTok doesn’t want you to know: unless you go viral (slim chance) the likelihood you’ll reach your local, intended audience and turn those impressions into leads and sales are minuscule. With a LinkedIn business page, you can captivate future customers with less than half the effort : no goofy dance routines or lip syncing required.

A map displays the number of people present on LinkedIn by volume, sharing the number of millions of users over each country and continent. The United States showing over 194 million users.

According to LinkedIn, there are currently over 202 million members present on LinkedIn in 2023.

I know. I know. LinkedIn is the big white granny panties of social media platforms: reliable, consistent, and not the most fun to show off, BUT I promise you, it’s worth it, and best of all, it’s FREE.

Top 5 Reasons You Need A LinkedIn Business Page:

A LinkedIn Business Page is a veritable gold mine for:

1. Customizable lead generation + cultivating brand awareness and trust

With a customizable lead form, you can connect with your audience immediately, and with consistent quality posting you associate your brand with industry knowledge and build trust with potential customers.

2. Researching the competition (locally and globally)

See what your competitors are sharing, which posts they’re getting engagement on, and which companies they’re connecting with to see how your strategies compare.

A laptop computer sits on a desk with a few windows open on the screen. An open notebook with a pen laying across it sits in front of the keyboard, and a mug of coffee and flowers in a vase sit off to the right.

3. Connecting and collaborating with synergistic companies or even within your own company.

By utilizing LinkedIn’s My Company experience to reach your employees directly and connect with them, LinkedIn points out that employees are 60% more likely to interact with their co-workers posts and 14x more likely to share your brand’s content, which expands your brand’s reach in an organic and authentic way.

4. Customer interaction with your ideal local audience

This means you’re reaching potential customers who are not only nearby and interested in what you’re selling, but they have the money to spend, too, despite the economic downturn. For B2B, it’s the easiest way to reach decision makers.

5. Robust ad options on LinkedIn’s Audience Network

With over 202 million LinkedIn users in the US alone, LinkedIn’s Audience Network tools help you reach LinkedIn members in the LinkedIn newsfeed as well as thousands of premium partner apps and websites that LinkedIn members visit frequently.

Facebook and Instagram, while still extremely valuable, simply aren’t enough anymore. You already know how hard it is to get your content to reach your audience (unless you’ve hired us to reach them for you, ahem) and the white noise of doom scrolling familiar platforms can drown out the incredible things you’re offering to your potential customers. Enter: LinkedIn Business Pages.

That's the kind of community having a LinkedIn business page provides: a professional business centered community.

5 Tips For Getting Started:

1. Don’t be lazy.

Create your company’s LinkedIn business page (you need a personal LinkedIn profile and a verified email address to get started) and be sure to fill out ALL the information that pertains to your business. (Yes, this will take a bit of time. If you don’t have time, we do.) You can find LinkedIn’s suggestions for best practices on completing your profile here.

2. Be concise but authentic.

Don’t skimp on the “About Us” section: this is your opportunity to show off who you are, what you value (Gen X, especially, loves to know), and what makes you unique (and better) compared to your competitors.

3. Get them to touch the button.

Don’t forget to add a lead form button. It’s completely customizable and can help you generate leads that, according to LinkedIn, “convert at a 5x higher rate than linked landing pages.”

4. Work smarter not harder (or don’t work on it at all- hand it off to us).

You don’t have to completely revamp your content to post it to LinkedIn. Repurpose stellar content you already have while honing it on the audience you’re aiming to reach on LinkedIn (which may be different than the audience you’re trying to reach on Instagram, for example).

5. Take advantage of free tools.

Most businesses don’t know about LinkedIn newsletters, LinkedIn articles, LinkedIn virtual live events, and  many other features they offer through business pages on LinkedIn. Their business pages have become so popular that LinkedIn has added tons of new features and tools to incorporate into your marketing strategy in the last three years, increasing their business page development staff x10. They even offer free action plans for business based on size, like this one for small businesses.

LinkedIn may not necessarily be your favorite platform to show off to customers, but stats don’t lie, and it is secretly going to be your customer’s favorite platform on which to engage with you because, like granny panties, more than half of people (65%) with buying-power have LinkedIn in their dresser drawer of professional social platforms.

I set up a LinkedIn business page…now what?

Once you’re set up, you’ll want to make sure you actively post to your page to gain followers, subscribers, and create a sense of consistency and associate your brand with expertise in your industry (which creates trust with your audience). Once you’ve hit 1,000+ followers, you can deploy the big guns: a LinkedIn Newsletter and host LinkedIn Live Events. More on that next time.
